Google has just announced it’s next big update to how it ranks websites. It’s called “Mobilegedon”, and it targets non-mobile friendly websites. If your website isn’t ready then this could potentially have a huge impact on traffic to your website. Mobilegedon hits on April 21, 2015 and it’s very important that you’re website is ready.
Google has said that the Mobilegedon update will have the biggest impact on search results ever. Even more that Panda or Penguin, (Google’s biggest updates that it’s ever launched).
What is Mobilegedon?
Basically this means Google is redoing the formula they use to rank websites to favor mobile friendly websites. It’s estimated that more than 50% of all Google searches are currently performed on mobile devices. So naturally Google only wants to show content that is going to look really good on mobile devices. The problem is that many websites are not “responsive”. These non-mobile friendly websites were only designed to look good on a desktop or laptop computer, but don’t look very nice on smartphones and tablets.
